According to Steve Ballmer, the Zune will soon be coming to Windows Mobile, which lays some of the rumors of a Zune phone to rest. This means, future versions of Windows Mobile will possess a Zune player built-in.

This isn’t exactly new news. In fact, Ballmer has made hints toward Zune on Windows Mobile before, but today in an interview with CIO Magazine, he flat out said it. Check out the direct quote below:

“the Zune software will also be ported to and be more important not just with the hardware but on the PC, on Windows Mobile devices, etc.”
And there you have it, folks! So we should see a Zune player on Windows Mobile sometime in the future. That’s not really telling us a whole lot by way of specifics, but we’ll take what we can get.
