The European wireless carrier T-Mobile appears to have jumped the gun on HTC a bit, and has taken the wraps off a smartphone that earlier was only a rumor. T-Mobile calls this model the MDA Vario IV, but it is better known to the rest of the world as the HTC Raphael. In many ways, this device will be similar to the HTC Touch Diamond, which was unveiled early this month, but unlike its sister model will include a sliding QWERTY keyboard. It will also have 3G wireless networking (7.2 Mbits HSDPA) and a GPS receiver. The Raphael/MDA Vario IV will have a VGA touchscreen, and run Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. In addition, this smartphone will include a 3.2 megapixel rear-facing camera, and a front-facing one for video conferencing. T-Mobile will introduce the MDA Vario IV by the end of this summer. It is not yet known when other wireless carriers will start offering the HTC Raphael.

Mobile Phone Helpdesk have an exclusive as today T-Mobile Europe announced three new MDA devices in München, Germany. T-Mobile will soon come to the market with the MDA Compact IV, the MDA Vario IV and the T-Mobile Ameo 16 gigabyte. The Compact IV is basically the HTC Diamond while the Ameo is the updated version which we have already seen. The MDA Vario IV is the most interesting device as we haven't seen much on this one but it looks to be the rumoured HTC Raphael which is very similar to the HTC Diamond with the added slide out QWERTY keyboard. The device is said to have 640 x 480 VGA screen, HSDPA up to 7.2Mbits/s, WiFi and GPS just like its keyboardless brother the Diamond. Where this device differs apart from the keyboard is the addition of a Micro SD card slot, but there's no mention of any built in storage.
